Miracles Do Happen

Believe it or not Drake and I are home and he is sooo much better. My ward held a special fast specifically for Drake last Sunday and if I hadn't seen it with mine own eyes I would not have believed how quickly his recovery came. Sunday we were thrilled because he started staying awake for most of the day, was laughing, and was very aware of everyone around him. He could communicate to us with his head nods and we were very excited. Come Monday and he was able to sit and hold himself up and move his arms better. He even said a few words to me and with some help stand up and take a few steps. The best is that he started eating on his own...Strawberry Ice Cream being his favorite. That night all he wanted to do was play on a trike that the hospital had for the kids. He also ordered me to push him around in his wheel chair and we took many trips up and down the elevator. By Tuesday he was talking in sentences and we were able to get all of his tubes out:). Once the doctor came in that morning and heard about his progress he said we were free to go home and start out-patient therapy at a children's rehab center. All of the nurses that had cared for Drake we so happy and stunned at his quick recovery. We were planning on being in the hospital/in-patient rehab for another 2 weeks, at least.
We still have therapy for an indeterminable time, but it is so nice to be in our own home again. I do believe in the power of prayer and know that we have been the recipients of God's blessing. I can't thank everyone enough for your prayers on Drake's behalf...

Lori - I am so glad you guys are surrounded by such an awesome ward. I know I felt very far away and helpless when we first heard about Drake, but it was such a comfort to me knowing that you and the kids all have such wonderful friends watching out for you! We are so glad Drake is doing so much better, it really is a miracle! I even told my primary class about it today when we were talking about prayer. Miss you guys.

I love a good miracle and they always seem to follow after a fast from the Chesterfield ward (that is now the third child to be healed from their ward fast that I know of) Amazing and wonderful words to read, so happy you're home.
