Our own "Ace of Cakes"

So Friday Kohl stayed home from school to finish his cake for Cub Scouts Blue and Gold because he was not feeling well at all. We had so much fun making all of these props out of fondant (basically edible play dough). I have to admit that I got a little carried away with the whole process. My friend shared with me a little secret about scouts, the derby is for the dads and the cake competition is for the moms...boy is it ever! I can't wait 'til next year to see what I Kohl will come up with:)

FYI, everything on this cake is edible...even the rocks (they are make out of chocolate, so fun).

P.S. If my cute nephew, Noah, was just a little closer I would tell him that this is his Birthday Cake...Happy Day big guy! I still remember the day you were born and just how amazing it was to witness your birth! We love you!

A Little Potpourri?

These were just some of the shots that were taken around our house this week...Chase was the man behind the camera for most of them...those are his adorable feet at the top of the post. I really just blog to make sure my favorite photos are saved in cyber-world( in case my computer crashes and I lose all of my pics that I should back up, but haven't because I am horribly unorganized). Thus, the potpourri of shots today.

Chase and Nanna had a great time in the kitchen cooking us up some bisquits...and they tasted as good as they looked.

snow fun

The kids loved our two snow days last week. We played until our limbs froze, then we filled ourselves silly with hot chocolate. We also broke down and bought our first sleds...I remembered how much I love sledding as the kids and I went up and down, up and down.

Derby Fun!

All of you scouting moms know what this car means...hours of planning, sanding, painting, decorating, and praying (that the car doesn't come in last every time, but that it also doesn't win so we don't have to spend a full day at the mall with more races).

We made it through our first Derby and Kohl was happy, no first place finishes, but a couple of seconds and thirds...no tears and a full year before we have to do this again.

I needed to change things up

This was me last week on one of our snow days...notice that blonde hair...I was tired of it and needed a change.

A week later and I am sporting a head of brunette hair... the verdict is still out with me, I look in the mirror and I don't know who is looking back at me.
